    QNX OS 8.0

     Info
QNX® Real-Time Operating System 8.0 is the next-generation microkernel that has been augmented to support the latest 64-bit ARM processors. It is the foundation for developing software for systems that run critical, real-time compute-intensive software such as those in mission-critical embedded systems such as automotive, medical devices, robotics, transportation and industrial embedded systems.

    Overview

The QNX® OS is the foundation for developing software for high-performance Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) and those embedded systems that run critical, real-time compute-intensive software such as Advanced Driver Assist (ADAS) systems or industrial robots. QNX OS 8.0 features a real-time operating system with a next-generation microkernel that has been augmented to support the latest 64-bit ARM processors. The QNX OS features a redesigned microkernel built on the pillars of performance, scalability, security, safety, and real-time execution.

Performance and real-time execution are central to the design of the QNX OS. Its real-time determinism means it can handle many time-critical tasks where predictability, scalability, and reliability are necessary for mission- and safety-critical applications. And its modular design makes it more flexible than a traditional monolithic OS. Its scaling capabilities meet the needs of high-performance, compute-intensive system architectures powered by next-generation silicon.

This cloud-enabled version of the RTOS is part of the BlackBerry QNX Accelerate initiative. Develop mission-critical embedded systems software, globally, at scale. Accelerate development cycles with full ARM64 binary parity and CI/CD pipeline integration. Focus on innovation, with reduced capital expenditure and faster time-to-market.

    Highlights

    • Microkernel RTOS - safe, reliable, scalable, secure, real-time and high performance, with ARM64 binary parity from embedded target system to the cloud

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

blackberry QNX is what IOT needs to be secure from threats

    Reviewed on Sep 15, 2023
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It really gives high preference to security especially IOTs where most OS fail to provide good security making them vulnerable to hack threats
What do you dislike about the product?
Could be more user friendly, sometimes the interface is laggy or needs to be restarted
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IOT devices are very vulnerable to hack threats, QNX has advance protection layer which is the reason why I prefer it over android or other OS for my IOTs

BlackBerry QNX: The Automotive Software of the future

    Reviewed on Aug 17, 2023
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
BlackBerry QNX is built with security in mind. It is a real-time operating system (RTOS) capable of ensuring predictable reaction times in the face of unexpected occurences. As a result, it's perfect for use in mission-critical applications like those found in the automobile and aerospace sectors.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a sophisticated operating system that might take some time to master. This may be an issue for certain people. Blackberry QNX is not the most affordable operating system available. This may be a consideration for some organisations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
BlackBerry is also quite safe. It employes a microkernel design, which lowers the attack surface and makes exploiting flaws more difficult. Blackberry QNX also contains security features including role-based access control and encryption

    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Blackberrry QNX is expectionally good in developing the interface for infotainment systems and can be used in Connected Car tech, that make this stand out from the rest.
What do you dislike about the product?
The major downside of QNX Hypervisor is, it's not portable across other microservices, cause it doesn't support other microcontrollers, if that's improved this product would be groun-breaker.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ONX features of a task-scheduling techniques with semaphore and Deadlock preventions. This makes the sophisticated QNX Hypervisor a go-to choice, if the hardware (microcontroller) is supported.

What do you like best about the product?
There are many things to like about BlackBerry QNX, but some of my favorite features include its real-time operating system, its advanced security features, and its support for a wide range of devices and platforms. BlackBerry QNX is a great choice for businesses and organizations that need a reliable and secure operating system.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few things that I dislike about BlackBerry QNX. First, the platform can be a bit challenging to develop for. Second, the app selection is not as robust as other platforms. Finally, the platform can be a bit unstable at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as BlackBerry QNX is designed to offer a variety of benefits depending on the specific needs of the user. However, in general, BlackBerry QNX provides a reliable and secure operating system that is optimized for use in mission-critical applications. This can offer significant benefits in terms of safety, efficiency, and cost-savings. Additionally, BlackBerry QNX also provides a variety of tools and services that can help developers create more efficient and effective applications.
