    Overview

CubeBackup is a self-hosted G Suite backup solution which can secure your company data across the entire G Suite domain, including Google Drive, Team Drive, Gmail, Contacts, Calendar and Sites, by backing up all data with version history to local storage or Amazon S3 private cloud storage.

Unlike most other G Suite cloud backup providers who physically control your data, CubeBackup allows you to fully manage your own backups.

CubeBackup can run in a docker container on Amazon EC2 instance and backup G Suite data to your Amazon S3 bucket.

    Highlights

    • Take control of your own business data. All backup data is stored on local storage or on your private AWS S3 bucket.
    • Keep version histories for both files and folders so that you can restore your G Suite data to any previous state.
    • Detect and automatically add new users without requiring any payment or authorization. The number of licenses can be adjusted before the next payment cycle.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Usage instructions

When a new AMI is deployed, CubeBackup is already installed in the Docker container. You need to start the container as well as configure it to backup your Google Workspace data.

    1. SSH into the EC2 instance as the user "ec2-user". In the bash shell, run the command "docker start cubebackup" to start up the container. After that, you can log out the EC2 instance.
    2. Open a web browser on your computer and visit the IP address of your EC2 instance. A setup wizard will pop up.
    3. In the setup wizard, select "Amazon S3" as the storage type, then select "/cubebackup_index" directory for data index, and follow the wizard.
    4. Create a service account in the Google Cloud Developer Console (https://console.cloud.google.com/ ), and input the service account key file in the setup wizard, along with your Google Workspace domain name and the administrator account.
    5. In the Google Workspace domain admin console, authorize domain-wide access to the service account you just created.
    6. In the setup wizard, select users to back up.
    7. Setup the administrator and password for CubeBackup's web dashboard.
    8. Run the first backup in CubeBackup.

CubeBackup Free Trial- A Gsuite Backup solution

    Reviewed on Oct 20, 2023
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
A few of my clients are using Cubebackup to secure their Gsuite data. It is useful for backing up business data either to your local storage or to AWS S3 directly. The best part is that it will store the version history of both files and folders which will be easy to manage the backups.
What do you dislike about the product?
It needs a dedicated server which is not practical for every user. If you have around 10 -15 Gsuite users working together, this is a great choice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
