Usage instructions
Instructions for Using the Scout Application:
The Scout application currently provides 120 open dataset portals, and the updated version will support custom datasets as well. Elastic Search has been deployed using Docker containers, and all available data portals will be imported directly from the Postgres database. For more information on how to populate your local database, please refer to the following link: https://github.com/digital-alpha/da-scout#25-populating-your-local-database .
The frontend and backend of the application can be accessed directly from the home directory at /home/ubuntu/da-scout/ on ports 3000 and 5000, respectively.
To start, restart, or stop the application, use the following commands:
- sudo systemctl start customscout.service
- sudo systemctl restart customscout.service
- sudo systemctl stop customscout.service
If you wish to make any custom changes to the service, you can modify the file at /etc/systemd/system/customscout.service. Note that custom app start and stop scripts have been provided for changing the instance public and private IPs in the packages file. Do not modify them manually.
