Great apps for a Secure Email Gateway
What do you like best about the product?
We are able to control the Gateway especially when you have different classification of employees in your organization classification to prevent data loss.
What do you dislike about the product?
Configuration can be a little challenging

What do you like best about the product?
The GUI is easy to navigate and understand
What do you dislike about the product?
Spam engine is not always on spot, We still have spam emails coming in, sometimes dangerous macro files
The software cannot detect the from address field that shows up in your mail client.
No way to view outbound spam emails
Macro detection/bypass needs integration into spamlogic, so email addresses can be whitelisted from there

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It still our first line of defence for emails, so it is still catching bad emails but not enough
Clearswift provides the best DLP with no false positive.
What do you like best about the product?
I really like their strong DLP (no false positives) but coupled with adaptive redaction and built in email encryption Clearswift secure us in a well rounded solution. Beyond a great product the team (sales, support and product) are top notch and are always working to help customers be successful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've been very satisfied with the product. Better support in a SaaS based version would be nice though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to have solid DLP that would detect outbound PII and protect this. We needed encryption (when it was required) but also didn't need to encrypt the PII. Clearswift allows us to detect PII and based on the data classification we may just apply outbound Redaction vs Encryption.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Clearswift is SMG is a overall a very competent agile platform. The DLP (what I'm most familiar with) is very powerful and can be relied on to not give you false positives. The ability to redact PII data directly in your documents is great.

What do you like best about the product?
Clearswift is a good product. Very robust. However complicated to maintain a myriad of policies that interact. That said their support is outstanding and they have been very helpful in assisting with creation of the policies.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing all of the policies is difficult

It does block a lot of span natively at the front door

Make sure to utilize support. They are very good

The interface works well. Documentation is good. Visual presentation of mail flow is nice. The many options of how to handle an item that matches criteria.
What do you dislike about the product?
The S/MIME configuration is a manual process that requires intervention by an administrator.

Virus scanning, URL scanning and rewriting, document scanning, removal of harmful scripts, quarantining files by file type. Stopping confidential material from leaving company via email.

the product works extremely well, does what is supposed to and is very reliable, management of product is very efficient, support is very helpful when needed

not much, product works as expected on an infrastructure side

What do you dislike about the product?
Clearswift has primarily focused on unique business rules incorporating DLP with features such as optical character recognition as well as redaction of text
They are unmatched in that realm
The SPAM and threat detection technology could be enhanced
However, a significant SPAM enhancement was released with V5 summer 2020
and
Sandboxing will be introduced with 5.1 due out the end of 2020
Both will address previous deficiences

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many organizations use Clearswift to adhere to their internal corporate requirements such as encryption, digital signatures, redacting/stripping out PII/PCI while allowing for the rest of the message to pass through
Often times when new requirements are required to be implemented, Clearswift will be introduced inline as opposed to a complete email gateway rip out and replace.
The ICAP Gateway has also be used by many Managed File Transfer customers for DLP to add DLP and threat prevention to their existing secure file transfer solutions.

Get your mailflow designed before implementation and ensure you have your DKIM set-up at last point of egress.
