Jellyfish provides me with data and insights that I could use to help my teams better to finish strong. The app projects when certain work items are going to land and this insight allows me to plan for changes towards getting the project back on track. When Planning capacity for large-scale initiatives, enables me to better capacity planning. Finally, it helps me quickly prepare for an Operational review with my leadership.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Jellyfish provided Engineering leaders with features around Initiative Planning/Project planning and estimation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provides data that I can use while reporting Team Operational Metrics.

At first looked a bit overwhelming, but it's really easy to navigate and learn how to use everything.

  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Jellyfish for a while now, and it has proven to be a valuable addition to our team's toolkit. This software has been instrumental in monitoring our productivity and helping us differentiate between product and technical tasks.

Jellyfish's user-friendly interface makes it easy for us to keep track of our daily activities and identify areas for improvement. It has allowed us to streamline our workflow and allocate resources more efficiently, which is always a welcome improvement.

The reporting and analytics features in Jellyfish have also been useful for us in making data-driven decisions. It provides clear and actionable insights, which have positively impacted our project outcomes.

In summary, Jellyfish has been a helpful tool for our team in improving productivity and optimizing our work. If you're looking for a tool to enhance your team's performance, I recommend giving Jellyfish a try.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to see more filtering options. For example I'd like to be able to compare certain metrics of individuals to other people in the same role (e.g. iOS engineer to be compared with the average metrics for iOS engineer, not just an engineer in general).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task Differentiation: It assists in distinguishing between product-related tasks and technical tasks. This clear distinction helps us allocate resources effectively and prioritize our efforts based on the specific needs of each area.

Efficiency Improvement: By providing insights into our workflow, Jellyfish has enabled us to identify bottlenecks and areas where improvements are needed. This has led to increased efficiency and smoother project execution.

Data-Driven Decision Making: The reporting and analytics features in Jellyfish provide us with valuable data about our team's performance. This data-driven approach has empowered us to make informed decisions, leading to better project outcomes.

Resource Optimization: With Jellyfish, we can optimize resource allocation, ensuring that the right people are working on the right tasks at the right time. This has resulted in a more balanced workload and improved overall productivity.

Still Learning to use it

What do you like best about the product?
SSO seems to work well. I've only ever logged in a few times.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't really feel compelled to use it as an engineering manager for an internal team. I don't have so many direct reports that I don't have a good idea of what they are working on and how things or going, so for me, I don't really see how Jellyfish helps me. Maybe thats the fact that I missed the training though...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I think this product is more for product-facing engineering team who have more developers and where insights might be harder to glean because the teams are larger. I don't really have any problems with our team or their efficiency that I don't think I cant solve or understand by simply talking to my team directly.

What do you like best about the product?
The wide array of data points that lead us to understanding our delivery process in real-time with actionable insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd love to find an API that allows me to export things like allocation data / graphics to present to a wider management team within a wider engineering-health scope.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better understanding our investment in technology and how we can match that to organizational goals and directives.

Jellyfish: Navigating the Depths of Data-Driven Engineering Excellence

  • October 04, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I find most compelling about Jellyfish is its ability to seamlessly integrate Git and Jira data into a coherent and easily understandable format. This amalgamation of data not only simplifies the complexities but also translates into actionable insights, allowing for a more informed decision-making process.

The straightforward setup of Jellyfish, coupled with an array of built-in features and opinions, distinguishes it from many alternatives. This user-friendly approach aligns with Jellyfish's philosophy, making it a practical choice for teams aiming to streamline their processes without unnecessary complications.

In essence, what I appreciate most about Jellyfish is its ability to turn complex data into actionable insights while maintaining a user-friendly interface and a commitment to continuous improvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Jellyfish has proven to be a valuable tool, there are a couple of aspects that could be improved upon.

Firstly, the customization and configuration process in Jellyfish is not as self-service as desired. The platform's opinionated nature, while promoting standardization across teams, comes at the cost of flexibility. This trade-off might not align with every organization's philosophy, as some may prefer a more customizable approach.

Another point of concern is the reliance on support tickets for certain configurations. Although the support team is responsive and efforts are being made to enhance self-service capabilities, the current model can result in configuration changes taking a day or two to be completed. This delay may be a hindrance in situations that require quick adjustments.

In summary, while Jellyfish excels in many areas, improvements in customization options and a more streamlined self-service configuration process would contribute to an even more seamless user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jellyfish solves key challenges by offering insights into team performance, identifying and addressing operational bottlenecks, aligning work with strategic goals, providing a structured approach to goal setting, and facilitating proactive process optimization. These solutions result in improved efficiency, informed decision-making, and a more streamlined and goal-oriented approach to engineering leadership.

Powerful Insights, Easy to use

  • October 04, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jellyfish has been a trusted tool for providing insight into where our development teams are spending their time. We've used Jellyfish to identify bottlenecks in our development organization. We've also been able to use Jellyfish to observe trends in our software development, as well as tracking performance through Epics, and org-wide Initiatives.

Customer Support have been amazing – very easy to reach out to, and The Bloom – a community of users has been a tremendous resource.

Setup and configuration was straight forward, and more admin functionality is being added on a regular basis to allow internal Administrators to control how Jellyfish is used.

We use Jellyfish on a regular basis across all levels of the company from 1:1s, Team Sprint Reviews, weekly check-ins for KPIs / OKRs, to Quarterly and Annual Reviews with the CTO and CPO leadership
What do you dislike about the product?
Some screen behaviours are a little inconsistent – sometimes data isn't presented on one view where it is on another view – and it would be useful on both. There's a couple of small tweaks to the UX that the Jellyfish team are continually polishing to improve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to see where development teams are spending their time, against the time allocated from a planning perspective has been useful in decision making for future allocations.

It's been useful to review the cost of development teams, against the attributed ARR uplift. This has opened the door to conversations between Development teams with Product, Sales, Marketing to drive Bang for Buck conversations.

We're also able to track how well we're completing long lived initiatives. We have cross-cutting initiatives that involve large percentages of our development teams, and providing reporting in a single place is a useful place to start conversations, to understand where blockers exist.

Great insights for Engineering Teams

  • October 04, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great unified metrics! I don't have to go to individual sources like JIRA and Github, too see how i'm doing
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is not that intuitive, took me time to find what i need to see. As an individual contributor, I mostly care about my own metrics, it should be something i see in the landing page as soon as i login.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows me to be aware of my velocity,

What do you dislike about the product?
I don't quite like the user interface. It's not intuitive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives me an overview of engineering metrics and from there, I can delve deeper into the reasoning behind each metric
