Algolia in La Haus
What do you like best about the product?
- The way you can easily setup Algolia, populate an index and start doing mockups with instantsearch.
- A lot of SDKs allow choosing the approach that better suits your use case.
- Not needing to spend a lot of time and money in infrastructure or software architecture.

What do you dislike about the product?
- Analytics are a tricky thing to do and don't work right out of the box.
- Developer documentation isn't 100% complete and synced across sources so some things have to be inferred.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a quick and easy way to launch a search feature for our customers and brokers, since using Algolia we have been able to iterate in the feature with reduced development time and able to change it easily.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely it's worth to try out. Plans offers a nice chance for prototyping and mid-scale platforms, time saved by developers is one of the top advantages

What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is a great service and toolset for crafting corp dev utilities and systems. With it we have been able to execute quickly on several developer efficiency efforts. The fast injection of data, configuration of indexes and amazing api coverage allow for some very powerful solutions to search.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new dashboard feels like a beta product - I preferred the older UX for the dashboards.

What do you like best about the product?
We decided we needed search on our site. Within a few minutes we had a demo account within Algolia, and instantly wrapped our heads around the interface. A few hours later we had our entire dataset within Algolia, and minutes later were hitting the API with search results. Since setting up Algolia, we have hardly had to modify any search settings. It has worked flawlessly for almost two years for us. We are actively showing the technology off to other product teams, as it drastic reduced our cost to build our product out. Our search is so effective, it is typically one of the first things other teams notice when checking out our product. They asked how we did the impossible. The answer, focus on our core competencies, and trust the experts at their competencies. Algolia is simply the best, at a fair price.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. We have had a few minutes of downtime in almost two years. When it happened the monitors at Algolia did not detect the outage. After emailing the CEO, he was quick to respond. The technical teams were quick to resolve, and due to our outreach, were able to fix the monitors. Downtime is expected for any SaaS service. What is important is that it is reasonable, and how they respond. For that, they did a amazing job.n
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to create a medication search, that is faster than our competitors. It is a more notable feature when other development teams investigate our site. i have done over a dozen technical demos from other teams doing outreach due to the speed and user experience.
We even rendered 28,000 pages based on data we store in Algolia. In other words, we use Algolia as part of our content management strategy, due to how fast and effective it is.

Use it. It is really cheap to try it out.

In this case the ability to use multiple indexes per sort let the response very fast.

Nothing at all. The only thing may be the price for people outside US. I live in Brazil and the exchange hates are 4-1.

What do you like best about the product?
The developer documentation and the API are great: quickly to integrate and powerful. The search options in the dashboard are also easy to configure and adjust.The various integrations with frameworks are also great. We use Algolia in JavaScript (Node and Browser), in Swift for our mobile app and also with Jekyll for our static help website.
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe the statistics, it would be helpful to have the info by country and keep them longer by default (at least some information like the 0-result searches). Right now we need to push them to another engine to keep them. Alternatively, an API to get the aggregated statistics would be helpful (especially to regularly get the 0-result searches and be able to push them to our team to improve the indexed data).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We switched our public search engine to Algolia to search sheet music on our website. It allows to quickly enhance the possibilities and offer more to our users, while reduce the development time for the update.
We also added algolia to our help center made with Jekyll, that's a great combo for a static site (no maintenance time yet powerful).
We aim to improve our integrations to push a better experience for our users in the future, and I believe we have chosen the good solution for our different products!

Sometimes we have had high invoices due to high indexing processes. Although that can be managed from our side.

I'm impressed with Algolia's search speed when entering product information. We have several thousand products and the search engine responds almost simultaneously as our customers type characters.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is a little high. The pricing tiers are nice but the thresholds are set too low. Currently, our website is for niche products. I could see it getting quite expensive on more popular websites.

Our customers can find what they're looking for easily and quickly. I think a responsive website translates to a higher level of professionalism and ultimately trust in our products. Showing the product image and displaying the price also improves our customers experience. One of the intangible benefits from this is it reduces calls to our customer service.
Finally, it's helpful to know which products our customers search for the most. We pay close attention to what our users look for so that we can focus on those products specifically. In many cases where a customer didn't purchase our product after searching, we found that the image or text on the product was confusing or incomplete. We have had several instances where, after improving the product description or image, sales on their product increased.

The better your product images and descriptions, the more valuable Algolia becomes. It is definitely an ongoing process for us. It is important to monitor the Algolia search results to in effect let your customers drive where improvements should occur.
