Fast, easy to use and free
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that I was able to check what I can save for free really sold me on this one. Our team was in the dark beforehand on our cloud spendings and now it's like an eye-opening experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
There wasn't much, but the UI takes some time to get used to. As they told me, they are constantly improving and working on it so, it's probably just a matter of time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloud cost visibility issues were running deep in our organization. No matter how much time we spent on looking at cloud bills from aws, we were not able to optimize it in a way that it won't grow in the next quarter or even month. As mentioned above, CAST was an eye-opening experience, showing improvements in our environment for free.

Effectively reduced our GCP cost
What do you like best about the product?
After getting a report with 60% savings there were no more questions we need to start using this service as soon as possible. We got 5 stars support for the onboarding process. The engineering team even added some features we were missing.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's tricky to start using platform via self service/e-commerce, would suggest thinking about other providers or at least improving the current UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cost optimization - we were able to start using spot instances with their automation solution
Highly recommend, even for a quick analysis and benchmark.

They have managed to save more than we have agreed initially.

We had to wait for some reporting options we've agreed on for a few days, but it's a minor con.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that they use more than spot instances to cut down on costs. There's autoscaling, scheduling and instance type optimization so we can use the platform on workloads that are not suitable for spot instances

A part of our product runs on GKE and they do not have UI for it, yet the optimization runs in the backend.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of workloads that usually don't lend themselves well to cost optimization and other products like spot.io didn't offer savings at the level cast.ai did. The main benefits are the ability to cost optimize in different ways as well as how easy the platform is to set up.
Better than expected
What do you like best about the product?
They delivered. The product actually works and saves you money. What I appreciated in comparison to other tools on the market is that CAST AI is easy to start using. Sure, there are some quirks here and there, but generally the UI is easy to navigate. They also sent links to relevant sections in documentation and offered live help.

At first I was questioning the big promise on their website, but it turned out to be true. Other than that nothing negative really stood out, although my usage was rather light.

As a young company, we don't have a cloud cost problem yet, but reading all the horror stories on the internet I decided to investigate what tools are out there. CAST AI turned out one of my favorites.
We will still have to grow a little bit before their paid offering saves us its monthly fee, but it's going to be a no-brainer once that happens. For now, I'll keep using the free observability functionalities and optimize some of the less dynamic parts in our infrastructure on my own.

Impressive ease-of-use for engineers
What do you like best about the product?
When you try to use the platform it is obvious that engineers had a say in its development. The console is quick to load and, apart from some minor inconsistencies, extremely easy to use. The product itself does a lot of tasks automatically that would usually require a DevOps engineer to do them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The feature set could be richer, but they've added at least 2 new ones during the time we were using the product so it's getting there.

"We are a consultancy mainly helping our clients to make the switch to microservices. The process has a lot of parts to take care of and CAST AI made a bunch of them easier.
One of the main benefits is that Cast doesn't require our clients to hire a lot of K8s qualified DevOps after the switch. The platform is very efficient for an engineer to use.

Great tool for Kubernetes cost reduction
What do you like best about the product?
"It's created specifically for Kubernetes and is by far the best I've seen to optimize container costs. Pricing is straightforward and the value is obvious - the tool saves you money.
Also very easy to get going and I was offered help straight away. Didn't need it yet, so can't comment on that."

I imagine someone on older infrastructure might not find CAST useful, but for us it is not an issue.

Primary cloud cost management. With CAST AI we reached signifiantly higher savings level compared to competitors
