Kandji makes the first impression with a new starter absolutely amazing!

What do you like best about the product?
As an admin, the simple, clean UI makes managing systems a breeze. The solution is feature-packed, and they appear to be investing a lot into development at the moment. Their new 'Liftoff' feature is terrific and keeps new starters informed of what their machine is doing and can be easily customised to include company-specific help articles at the end.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing structure. Please move to a pay-by-device model. Kandji's logic is I pay the same amount compared to an established / mature product like Jamf; however, I can add more devices into my account due to their pricing structure.

I don't need capacity for additional devices in my account; I would just prefer to reduce my overall OpEx and pay for what I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our previous new starter process was completely manual—manual imaging, manual user account setup, manual security configuration, manual application install, manual chrome configuration, etc. We also had no one to enforce security controls such as Filevault, Firewall, Antivirus, etc.

This is entirely automated now. After assigning the device to a user in Kandji, all of the above steps are completed automatically.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Obtain a free trial account and configure Kandji as if it was moving into your production environment. Put it to the limits and see what it can and can't do for your organisation.

Time saving MDM

  • August 12, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji simplifies the deployment and updating of applications via MDM so I don't need to take the time or resources to build out additional infrastructure to support it. This is critical for companies where the IT team runs lean and is an absolute life-saver.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blueprints can be finnicky to work with and require a good understanding of how you want to handle groups in your company. There also is not a way to run one-off scripts or settings for individual machines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security policies such as password management, screen saver, and application updates are a breeze. I don't need a full headcount to sit in the MDM and fiddle with it all day like some of the larger companies such as Jamf or Workspace One
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Carefully plan out your blueprints as once you have those set it can be a bit more difficult to switch them out.

Excellent Product and Support

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of setting up templates to manage different mac products is fantastic.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any limitations it has seem to be primarily because of Apple not giving them the ability to add those things to configuration. Much of this is not a big deal though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Device management of all Mac products. Allows us to be hands-off on updates, installs, and control the security of all of our mac products. We also love the setup features that will enable us to create templates and once assigned, everything is ready to go for the end user.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take advantage of their onboarding. It is excellent!

Best Partnership We've Entered in a Long Time

  • August 12, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Truly there are many things but I would have to say the support. Their support is quick, accurate, and always active until the problem is resolved.
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficult to say. The learning curve was a little bit but not as steep as other MDMs we've used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Where do I begin? Time savings for my department has been incredible. The Lift Off feature has changed the end-user experience in a way that we didn't think was going to happen. The users like being able to "open the box" of their new device AND seeing what is installing. The tech department has to do very little with setting up new users and pushing out software, updates, and printers remotely has been excellent. Finally, the Self Service feature is a game changer for all. If something specific needs to be installed for a certain user they can go to Self Service and install it themselves. We also have a lot of iPads and the no touch provisioning for the end user is incredibly helpful. We rarely have to 'fix' the iPad. All can be done remotely. We spend a lot of our time reconfiguring them over the last 2 years.

Chose Kandji after a lengthy exploration of Jamf and Fleetsmith

  • August 12, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji was easier to implement compared to Jamf.
The Blueprints and auto apps are a time saver—along with tips on deploying common apps like CrowdStrike.
Their Macadmins channel is super helpful.
And best of all, their implementation services engineers were a godsend and a great investment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Deploying Creative Suite on M1's is a pain, but that's an issue on any MDM.
Support was initially excellent, but a couple of my experiences were lackluster.
There was one period of significant downtime that thankfully didn't hurt us, but I'm glad I wasn't onboarding anyone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have 75 macs, most of which are offsite throughout the country—especially after COVID. Kandji has helped speed up onboarding, updating, deploying software, and management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I am very glad I went with Kandji over JAmf and others. We had quite a few requirements—and even some things Jamf could not do. Spend a lot of time developing your requirements and what you will need to deploy and where. Do a careful review of Jamf and Kandji comparing each of these requirements before making your decision. Then pay extra for the engineer's time to help jump start your time - I would even pay for extra time, and spend time writing out a list of all of your questions, any additional requirements so the engineer's time is not wasted.

What do you like best about the product?
Proactive email alerts, automatic issue remediation by client-side agent, easy to use well designed interface, day one support for updates, use of proper MDM protocols, and good customer support (thanks Liam!)
What do you dislike about the product?
Had an issue with a blueprint once that wouldn't load
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Makes my life easier. Allows me to focus less on menial tasks so I can attend to bigger issues

Best MDM For Mac I've ever used

  • August 12, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
> The number of customisation options we get to secure our fleet of MacBook devices is staggering
> Security controls
> Zero-Touch Deployment
> Custom application deployment
> Self Service
> The support team are probably the best
> Lift-Off
What do you dislike about the product?
> The website could be a little more responsive for when you need to make some changes on the fly on Mobile, otherwise absolutely none!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Maintaining and securely managing a fleet of MacBooks and iPhones - allows us to set up devices without opening them up, allowing for a pristine user experience.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A lot of people prefer to use JamfPro, but honestly, Kandji does everything Jamf can and doesn't cost an arm and a leg in the process

Saved my bacon!

What do you like best about the product?
Simple and easy to use. Perfect for 1 person needing to manage hundreds of laptops without being super technical. Everything I needed to get done was completed by configuring a few blueprints and deploying to our users in minutes. It's super clear to configure and use. The system pushes out updates when it needs to silently; we don't have to configure much, but we can see everything going on with our fleet.
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to create different blueprints for simple installs - I suspect this will change though. Also with Apple messing up the MDM management of OS updates recently - we struggled for a while. However Kandji were quick to get an elaborate script up and running which meant we could continue to stay compliant.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had to become Cyber Security certified in a short space of time. Other MDM and MSP's were quoting 5 figure sums to get us onboarded and going - over a period of 3 - 6 months. With Kandji, we demoed and signed up in a week and had our laptops managed by 1 person within the month. Some MDM's didn't follow up before that time. If you want something done quickly and simply - just use Kandji. No nonsense and no headache. The main user was a first time Apple admin in the company - they managed to do everything they needed and pass our CSE certification in one go.

Great MDM for startups and enterprises alike

  • June 18, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pros:
- Easy to use interface
- Quick ways to set up CIS requirements
- Tons of policies that can be toggled on and off
- Easy ways to manage the dozens of apps they have set up (most being in most startups)
- Great support! ++++++++++++ shout out to Liam and the team for their quick support and responses.
- Quickly coming out with features to match other competitors
- Directory integration with Google makes assigning computers easy

One of the small details I like is the description of each setting and what it does.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cons:
- Blueprints and library items may not be the best way for large enterprises that need a lot of granular controls of their policies
- Mass updates are not there yet for updating multiple computers
- Needs to have smart groups for rule base searches
- From a JAMF user, it needs extension attributes
- Pricing seems to be getting in line with the bigger guys which might sway folks to just go with the bigger guys.
- More integrations to other services to make automation easier for small teams without an engineering team.

I'm sure these will be things that Kandji will look into eventually as I am sure they want to separate themselves from the overly featured rich set of JAMF and find a nice middle group that still offers a ton of value for the cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a startup, we don't have the bandwidth normally to fully support an enterprise solution like Airwatch and JAMF. Kandji solves this by making policies easy to manage with an on/off button and allows installing apps easier with their pre-built set of apps. The ability to also switch to different CIS benchmarks helps with any audits and compliance that has to happen.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think Kandji is great for companies that are starting out and need a great out-of-the-box solution. I do think within time, Kandji will be a world-class enterprise solution but we just need to watch how they scale and which feature they deem a priority as Mac management gets more complex.

Let the Queen Bee Rule

  • June 17, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Kandji is clear, concise, very easy to use right out of the box. Their system of modularizing apps and parameters into Library items, which can then be added to and removed from Blueprints for different classes of a machine is brilliant and well thought out. Out of the box security templates make for great starting points when creating new Blueprints. The overall performance of Kandji is my favorite thing of all. Systems respond very quickly to profile updates, changes and machine enrollment is a snap. Lastly the ability to combine VPP, Custom Apps and Scripts into a easily custom branded self service kiosk is the icing on the cake. Did I mention their customer support is excellent? It is. Kandji should be your next MDM.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally they are a little slow getting their auto app library updated with the latest versions of applications. We have had some issues with operating system updates that Kandji has had to provide elaborate scripted workarounds for. I feel like they could do a better job of sorting this out with Apple beforehand, as each is dependent on the other.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick and easy management of hundreds of home-officed Macs at a cost that doesn't crush a startup.
